The River District is located in Sacramento County in the City of Sacramento. As capital of California, Sacramento ranks as the capital of the eighth largest economy in the world. The six-county Sacramento region comprised of El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, Sutter, Yolo and Yuba counties, is the 26th largest metropolitan statistical area in the United States.
Comprised of approximately 1,368 acres of land, The River District is defined by the American and Sacramento rivers on the north and west and by the Railyards and Central City residential neighborhoods on the south and east. In 1990, the area was designated as a Redevelopment Area pursuant to the provisions of the California Community Redevelopment Law.

The River District is 11 miles or 15 minutes from Sacramento International Airport with over 150 daily departures serving over 8.5 million passengers per year
Transit
Sacramento RT currently provides bus transit to the area and The River District will be served by the future Downtown/Natomas/Airport (DNA) light rail line
Highways
The River District is easily accessible to key highways including Interstates 5 and 80 and Highways 50, 99 and 160.

River District roadways provide easy circulation to reach any central city destination via North 7th, North 12th, North 16th and Richards Boulevard.
